The October campaign focused on raising the standard of domain security with DNSSEC exceeded expectations. The number of domains with this higher security standard has increased significantly. After the campaign’s deadline on 16/11/2019 almost 35,500 domains were secured, which represented 8,82% of all registered .sk domains.
This number has exceeded 42,000 domains yesterday and continues to rise! The percentage thus exceeded 10% (10.66%).
We have significantly improved the security of those domains which have increased their security with DNSSEC system. We are very pleased that the trend of responsible behavior in virtual Slovakia continues. Since the introduction of DNSSEC in April 2019, we have become a „jumper“ among the countries that introduced this system – such a rapid increase was neither in neighboring Czech Republic nor in Switzerland, which are the countries with the most developed technological functions for DNSSEC.
„DNSSECure your .sk domain“ campaign lasts from 15/10/2019 to 15/11/2019. Over 26,000 domains were „DNSSECured“ in that period. With a DNSSEC share of over 10% of the total number of domains, Slovakia has become one of the TOP countries in Europe.
We would like to thank the Registrars who actively participated and are still continuing – together, we have once again contributed to making our virtual Slovakia a safer space.
We consider security in the virtual world as a priority, so in 2020 .sk domain campaigns will be primarily linked to DNSSEC security or other domain security services.
We add the information that the Netherlands, Norway and the Czech Republic currently have the highest share of DNSSEC security in Europe. These countries were introducing DNSSEC gradually, with the increase of using this service in per mille percents, i.e., only dozens of domains. There are also a few countries that have introduced DNSSEC earlier, but even at present, they do not have the same ratio as the .sk domain.
