In April 2024, an unexpected string suddenly dominated the DNS magnitude list, generating traffic on par with major TLDs due to a minor misconfiguration in a widely used global tool. The spike surpassed nearly all active top-level domains while going largely unnoticed.
This talk explains how the anomaly occurred and how it was quickly resolved.
