In the call for small projects, opened in October 2019, appeared 11 successful projects, which are already implementing the declared activities.
Recently we have introduced projects which focus their attention on the safety of children and young people on the Internet, help blind and partially-sighted people to be better oriented in the digital world or enable young IT talents to succeed.
However, several Slovak schools also came up with interesting ideas in the field of education. Secondary School of Electrical Engineering on Zochova Street in Bratislava proposed the “Secure Zochova“ project, the goal of which is not only to increase the level of cybersecurity of the school, but also to include the Cybersecurity subject in the educational process, which is a relatively unique topic in the Slovak education system.
Another school caring about the cybersecurity is the University of P. J. Šafárik in Košice, which is preparing another year of the “Summer School of Cybercrime“ thanks to the SK-NIC Fund. So students of IT and law together will be able to develop theoretical and practical knowledge through practical workshops and lectures from the field of Information security and cybersecurity and compare their points of view.
An extraordinarily innovative project for children to learn about ICT was invented by members of the non-profit organization Learn2code. Their project “We program with GalaxyCodr“ creates an educational game that teaches algorithms and basic principles of programming. It is designed for children from the age of 8 and can be played online and for free.
We are pleased that we are contributing to the growth and development of our virtual Slovakia and that the SK-NIC Fund has been fulfilling its essence since its first call. We want to continue to help projects that are interesting for their innovation, cyberspace protection, Internet education and so on. And we are happy to say that we have already supported some of the successful projects with further activities.
The next call of the SK-NIC Fund is already open!
If you have an idea or you know someone who wants to realize a project, do not hesitate to apply! (However, only citizens of the Slovak Republic can apply).
