2023 was the first full post-corona year. We felt the repercussions of this global pandemic back in 2022.
With the arrival of 2023, we fully felt the pressure of double-digit inflation, which increased prices in all sectors of industry and services.
The number of domains with the most beautiful domain suffix .sk reached the 455,000 mark in 2022.
We closed 2023 with 468,000 domains.
Despite adverse inflationary pressures, the .sk zone continued to develop. This was not the case in every country.
We supported
We supportedThe SK-NIC Fund opened its seventh call in the spring.
The successful projects that received support from this call joined the others and together with them exceeded the support threshold of EUR 1.2 million. In total, we supported 107 projects in the fund.
In addition to this support, we have traditionally supported other projects. We supported these projects with more than 110,000 EUR!
In 2024, the SK-NIC Fund will announce two calls. The next one will be open from March 15 to May 31. Within this call, we will support projects with support amounts ranging from EUR 10,000 to EUR 30,000.
To support registrations and entry into Virtual Slovakia, we launched support campaigns where we reduced the registration price to EUR 5 for a week in May and a week in October.
Both campaigns were met with an extraordinary response and we were able to welcome more new virtual residents to our Virtual Slovakia.
Since January, we have launched the Qualitative Accreditation Program for Registrars.
8 TOP registrars have successfully passed the demanding evaluation processes, and at the same time, we have completed joint campaigns with some of them to support the growth of the most beautiful domain suffix .sk.
We celebrated
The most beautiful domain suffix began to write its story on April 12, 1993.
The year 2023 was carried out in the spirit of celebrating the 30th anniversary. During the year, we remembered the milestones through which we walked to today.
We published short videos that capture history, but also remind us of some forgotten milestones and the history of the Internet on our social networks. Watch them and remember.
We educated
As the main partner of the Business Talent Fair, organized by JA Slovakia, we have once again contributed to the development of young talents in the fields of economics, science and technology.
Together with JA Slovakia, we also trained Digital Competence Coordinators from all over Slovakia.
We have traditionally cooperated with the Police Academy in Bratislava in the education of young cadets. We also completed several trainings in 2023.
We organized Registrar’s Day and seminars for registrars in both spring and autumn. Upcoming legislation and the upcoming NIS2 were topics that resonated in 2023.
Sales support, marketing and communication on social networks – these are topics that we regularly include in joint meetings.
In the fifth series of the Academy of Virtual Slovakia, we focused on Mental Health and Safety on the Internet. In eight educational videos, we explained the pitfalls of online dating, grooming, the social network OnlyFans, and other topics. We prepared these topics in cooperation with experts from IPčko.
We have hosted domains from all over the world
In September, we hosted CENTR – the administrative working group.
It was the second time that we hosted representatives of national registers from all over the world. We consider it important to present the beauties of Slovakia to representatives of registers of other countries physically. We have many things to offer to the world, not only virtually, but also in terms of tourism and therefore in a real sense.
We provided
Slovakia has traditionally been one of the TOP countries in DNSSEC security.
In 2023, we grew again. We secured 54.3% of the total number of .sk domains in this way.
We support the growth of Slovakia – both virtually and in reality
The internet is our home, but we don’t forget about the real one either.
When celebrating 30 years of the most beautiful domain suffix .sk, we made a promise that for every new registration we would plant 1 tree. The first 30,000 trees are already growing. We actually helped with their planting.
We can conclude that 2023 was truly a year full of many activities to support the growth and development of our Slovakia, both virtual and real.
