The Commission for .sk National Domain Administration, an advisory and consultative body of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic for Investments and Informatization (further as „the Office“) approved today an amendment of Technical Communication Policy for the .sk top-level domain. The most fundamental reform is the increase of the DNS service availability from 99,00% to 99,99%. The proposer of the reform is SK-NIC itself, i.e. .sk TLD manager, taking into account various communication related to this topic.
It is a positive step from SK-NIC’s side, and the long-term practice is 100% availability of the service under SK-NIC management. SK-NIC continues to follow the quality setting, but now it also declares it in an obligatory way. SK-NIC contradicts any doubts of the naysayers in this way and continues in internal quality standards of service provision.
SK-NIC‘s focus is to help people successfully use virtual space more than ever. One of the aims of SK-NIC is also to create the virtual space in Slovakia in the most secure level possible while making it accessible to people, companies and organizations at the same time. SK-NIC is one of the leaders in domain stability, proved by continual long-term service without the failure since the start of its existence in this form.
The Commission for .sk National Domain Administration approved also some minor changes of the SLA like harmonization of the DNS update time with ICANN standard and optimisation of the number of monitoring probes relevantly to a single top-level domain space.
SK-NIC in partnership with the Office brings also yet another significant activity – preparation of the new support mechanism for internet community projects has entered its final phase. Pontis Foundation, a renowned entity for financial grants and project administration, has been chosen as the future administrator of the project application process. SK-NIC filled another of the social obligation in this way and became a philanthropist in the area of education and IT security projects support. The finalization of the contractual and methodological components of the process is still necessary, but both sides agreed to try to initiate a call for projects in the early autumn of 2019.
