We would like to inform you that, starting in late August 2026, we are launching regular technical scanning of domains in the .sk zone. The scanning will be performed automatically, typically during the final days of each month.
Why do we scan .sk domains?
As the .sk domain registry, we know when a domain is registered. However, that does not necessarily mean its DNS is functioning correctly. That is precisely why technical scanning enables us to monitor the status and quality of the DNS infrastructure across the entire .sk zone.
The data obtained will help us to detect technical shortcomings, monitor the evolution of the technologies in use, and identify areas that can contribute to the more stable and secure operation of the .sk domain.
The scanning process is designed to gather data efficiently and without unnecessarily repeating the same queries. Consequently, the anticipated load on internet infrastructure should be negligible compared to standard traffic.
IP addresses used for scanning
Scanning will be performed from these IP ranges:
- IPv4: 109.71.66.192/28
- IPv6: 2a02:6300:30::/64
We therefore ask registrars and name server operators to add the specified IP ranges to their allowlists for DNS queries directed at the name servers they manage. This will prevent potential blocking that could affect our technical verification process.
Regular technical scanning is a standard part of the operations of national domain registries (ccTLDs) and helps provide a better overview of the technical status, stability, and security of the managed domain.
