As of December 31, 2020, Slovak Telekom will stop providing the services of free e-mail boxes.
Users of these e-mail accounts will only be able to receive and send messages until November 30, 2020. Afterwads, they will only be able to download important e-mails, documents or contacts from the service in December. From January 1, 2021, the service will be permanently canceled and the content of the mailboxes will be deleted. Therefore it will not be possible to recover the data in any way.
We recommend not only to the affected users, but also to anyone who considers to set up an e-mail box, to register their own domain, create an e-mail, and gain their own space. In addition, you can have your own first or last name or even the name of your company or institution after the at-sign (@). So you will no longer be a renter in someone else’s space – you will have your own, which no one can turn off unexpectedly.
The company rasons that it is taking this step due to the termination of technologically older or less used services. Fortunately, there are still enough of suitable .sk domains, so do not hesitate and establish your own virtual identity today. All necessary steps can be found for example in the Academy of Virtual Slovakia (Slovak only).
And the last advice – don’t forget to forward all important emails to your new inbox in time!
