In March it will be possible to apply for financial support for the projects from the SK-NIC Fund again.
This time we are preparing a call for large projects and we have allocated 150,000 EUR! The call will be open from 15th March to 30th April 2020.
Compared to the call for small projects, which we launched in October 2019, in the 2020 call for large projects it will be possible to get support in the range of 10,000 EUR to 30,000 EUR.
The upcoming call covers three ranges of themes:
- Information and communication technologies education
- Digital inclusion
- Projects with a positive impact on the environment (so-called “green IT”)
The projects of the last year’s call were focused on cyber security and Internet education, and many of them inspired us to choose topics for this round. We want to continue in the set trend – to help good thoughts and ideas which not only increase the digital or security level, but also have an altruistic character.
A great example of the way how to use virtual space to bring reality closer is a project from the previous call from a non-profit organization EDUMA – From emotions to knowledge, which deals with the general lack of appreciation, sensitivity and understanding of people with health or social problems. They applied for support from the SK-NIC Fund with the project, which aims to build a safer online environment for pupils and students.
Another project with a strong message is brought by the IPčko organization, which, for a long time, has been running a psychological councelling service,, for example for people with suicidal tendencies or various disabilities. Their goal is to give virtual help and inform where people can find help and how they can deal with their situation (for example through podcasts and live streams). We are pleased to help with further development of this unique project in Slovakia. We realize that the virtual world not only helps but can also be a threat, especially for young people, so it is neccessary to intervene in time.
SK-NIC provided financial support from the fund also in the area of education – to the pupils of forestry and wood technology school, who have been dependent on working with obsolete equipment for the last few years. Therefore, modern GPS devices will be added to their classrooms and they will be able to prepare more fully for their future professional life.
If you have a good idea or you know someone who wants to realize a project and their topic is in the 2020 call for large projects, follow the news on the SK-NIC, a.s. website (However, only citizens of the Slovak Republic can apply).
Already now we are looking forward to the projects in the next call and their contribution to the development of our virtual Slovakia.
