In the spirit of summer, we are sharing information about upcoming changes that will affect the lifecycle of the .sk domain and introduce new management options.
We are preparing to launch a new service this autumn – auctions for expired domains.
Domains that should be deleted after the Redemption Grace Period will enter a new life cycle phase – the auction one.
Within this phase, everyone will have the same opportunity to auction off the expired domains.
You can view the new domain lifecycle in the image below or open it directly in a new window.
The process will work similarly to the current release of prohibited 1- and 2-character domains and will use the SK-NIC auction system. If there is no interest in the domain in the auction, it will be deleted afterwards.
However, the difference within winning procedure will be that any registrar will now be able to register the won domain – via a menu in the web interface and a new EPP extension with a so-called registration code (i.e. allocation token).
To use this extension via EPP communication, you will need to make a simple addition – technical details can be found on our website.
Although these are not demanding technical adjustments, we recommend making them as soon as possible.
We will of course inform you about the exact dates of release in several notifications and we will also publish the regular .sk domains release conditions via auction in a timely manner.
