Shortly after the Slovak Republic was established in 1993, the global internet authority confirmed registration of .sk top level domain, which hence came into operation. To commemorate the 25th anniversary, SK-NIC, a. s., manager of this ccTLD offers special promotional offer of discounted registration of new .sk domains during 25th and 26th of September 2018.
25 years ago, after establishment of the independent Slovak Republic, Gejza Büchler, then manager of EUnet Slovakia received a confirmation message from predecessor of nowadays ICANN, which thus confirmed registration of the Slovak top level domain .sk.
The ‘birth certificate’ of the new top level country code domain already then carried a note “manpower provided by private company.” Similar to many other countries across the Europe, the management of the .sk ccTLD was delegated to the private organization. This later changed its name and since 2006 it is known as SK-NIC, a. s.
To commemorate the 25th anniversary since the initial delegation, SK-NIC, a. s. decided to offer to its registrars special two-day promotional offer of discounted price for registration of new domains. The promotional campaign will run on September 25th and 26th, 2018. In line with the strategy of the new investor, CentralNic Group PLC, SK-NIC, a. s. thus wants to support development of the Slovak internet community.
Thanks to this promotional offer, registrars can offer to their clients the lowest prices for registration of new domains in the 25-year history. Two-days promotional campaign is concerning only registration of new domains.
