The Internet has more than 4,1 billion users nowadays. It´s not everything – the virtual world welcomes lots of new „residents“ daily, and almost 17% of them come from Europe. Virtual Slovakia is also growing up and tens of domains are added daily in the Slovak Republic. The risk of hacking websites, which are available through these virtual sites, increases with the number of users. An attacked website may be also used for illegal activities such as phishing, it means the cheater is trying to get various sensitive data, such as addresses, credit card numbers, or passwords.
That’s why we launched DNSSEC (Domain Protection Service) in April 2019. This service secures that the user is directed to the correct address, which de facto protects virtual sites – domains – from being attacked. We are pleased to announce, DNSSEC is protecting more than 6000 domains today.
In addition to securing domains, our priority is also education through technologies and raising awareness about the Internet itself. In this context, we have recently announced financial support for projects from our SK-NIC Fund, and we are expecting the launch of the calls this autumn. With money from the fund, we want to support the best projects in cybersecurity and Internet education. We expect, that the lots of candidates are going to join the call, therefore we left nothing to chance and the process of collecting applications and evaluating projects was entrusted to the Pontis Foundation.
We are a company interested in the support of quality projects. The most important is the asset of the projects and the way how to achieve the greatest effect with their help.
In 2019 we actively participated in projects like IT Fitness Test, Kry-sa or Junior Internet Amavet. By supporting the film „Who’s Next?“, which was premiered on August 21 this year and came to 86 Slovak cinemas, we continue to raise awareness of the pitfalls of the Internet world.
The Internet becomes a place where we spend more and more time and that´s why we want to continue to support the projects that help in security and awareness.
