Starting on October 1, 2024, .SK manager company SK-NIC, a.s. is launching the release of 1-, 2- and 3-character.sk domains for registration. It includes domains such as 1.sk, ba.sk or hm.sk.
These are unique domains, where a particular interest of companies with a name, brand or logo similar or identical to any of the domains contained in the List of to-be-released 1-2-3 .sk Domains is expected. Such an investment is unique for companies – it happens only once – when it ends, it is over.
Please note that there is a specific priority phase for trademark holders, during which they can apply and deliver the necessary documents related to their claim before the official opening of the auctions.
On a separate sub-page, you can view detailed information about the process of releasing 1-, 2- and 3-character prohibited .sk domains, including the information required to assert a claim through a trademark, as well as subsequent auctions.
The deadline to apply using the priority right is open from 1st to 14th October 2024. After this period end, this action will be no longer possible – similar as in other countries, a free competition via auction will follow.
Auctions will be opened within the SK-NIC Auction System (accessible at https://sk-nic.sk/aukcie/) in monthly groups of domains. To participate in the auction, one will need to register in the Auction System. The first group is expected to be available from November 15, 2024.
The full detailed conditions to release 1-, 2- and 3-character prohibited .sk domains for registration with all the details are available on the SK-NIC website.
Investing in virtual land – domains – pays off. Around the world, valuable domains are being auctioned for hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars. A good name ensures a high rate of profitability. As an example, the voice.com domain was auctioned for a whopping $30 million. And that’s not the most expensive one!
Thus, from October 1, 2024, Slovakia will have the opportunity to obtain unique .sk domains, that have not been obtainable since the establishment of independent Slovakia. This opportunity will not be repeated!
